What is Xifaxan?
Xifaxan (rifaximin) is an antibiotic which is designed to stay within the gut and not pass into the circulation. It is particularly associated with Dr Mark Pimentel's treatment program which used antibiotics as part of the treatment for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.
What symptoms does it treat?
Xifaxan is used to treat the symptoms of SIBO, which can include both diarrhea and constipation-predominant IBS.
How is it taken?
Xifaxan comes in tablet form.
