psychotherapy
What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a form of treatment where a patient talks through their problems to try to understand why they feel the way they do, and why they react in particular ways to other people and situations. Patients may be asked to examine their pasts and childhood, as well as important relationships in their life.
What symptoms can it treat?
Psychotherapy is not designed to treat specific IBS symptoms, but may be able to help reduce stress and help a patient deal with the emotional and mental problems associated with irritable bowel syndrome.
What happens in a psychotherapy session?
The therapist will ask a range of questions to encourage you to explore your feelings and emotions.
