What is aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy involves the use of concentrated, aromatic essential oils, derived from plants, to treat various health problems. Some of the most common essential oils include eucalyptus, ylang ylang and lavender.
What symptoms does it treat?
Aromatherapists say that essential oils can treat a range of emotional and physical symptoms, including depression, anxiety and digestive disorders.
What happens in an aromatherapy session?
The therapist will mix a blend of essential oils which reflect your symptoms and medical background. They will then apply the oils, generally through massage techniques. Essential oils can also be bought straight from many health food stores and supermarkets and used in baths, inhaled as a vapour or used for massage.
